CivicPlus identifies its Social Media Archiving product as formerly ArchiveSocial. Treat those names as the same product lineage when building your shortlist.
CivicPlus positions the product within its government technology portfolio and advertises an Open Archive public-access option. If public self-service is part of your requirements, ask to see it and confirm the scope and price in your proposal.
When to include Brolly on your shortlist
Consider Brolly when you want to connect official social accounts across departments, give multiple teams access to the archive, and search and export captured conversations. Its published plans include unlimited accounts, users and storage, with plan size based on new records captured each month.
Bring your actual account list to the demo. Platform permissions and content availability still determine what can be captured; a plan inclusion is not a promise of identical coverage on every network.

Quote the same scope, then test a busy month
For CivicPlus, request an itemized proposal for the specific archiving service and any public-access or other optional features you require. If other CivicPlus products are part of the purchase, separate their costs so the archiving comparison stays useful.
Ask both vendors to price the same account inventory, user roles and contract period. Add a high-activity scenario and ask what changes if a post receives substantially more comments, reactions or revisions than usual. Include any optional services and end-of-contract costs.
Use the RFP commercial questions to record assumptions. A lower headline price only helps if it covers the work your team needs to do.
Leave the demo with evidence
Give each vendor the same fictional request: find a test conversation from an approved account within an agreed date range, including supported replies and captured changes. Use harmless content and record when each action happened.
- Capture: confirm the source ID, timing, media and conversation relationships.
- Review: inspect available original and edited versions; document any unsupported content.
- Export: open the package outside the archive and check metadata, media and available integrity evidence.
- Operate: show connection alerts, role restrictions and the steps your colleague will follow to answer the next request.

Keep old records accessible while proving new capture
Brolly does not currently import third-party archives. If your decision depends on consolidating historical records into a single imported archive, address that limitation before committing.
Confirm the old provider’s export and access terms, choose a custodian for legacy records, verify the export and test retrieval across the old and new collections. Record capture start dates and resolve gaps before approving closure.

Are ArchiveSocial and CivicPlus different products?
CivicPlus describes Social Media Archiving as formerly ArchiveSocial. This page compares Brolly with that archiving product, not every product in the CivicPlus portfolio.
Can Brolly import an existing CivicPlus / ArchiveSocial archive?
Brolly does not currently import third-party archives. Keep legacy records accessible through an agreed export or continued access arrangement. Verify new capture before ending the old service.
Is Brolly cheaper?
That depends on your account inventory, record volume, required features and contract. Compare a normal month and a high-activity month using current written quotes. Include onboarding, support, optional products, export and exit terms.
What should we test before deciding?
