Plan archiving for a LinkedIn Company Page

Define the boundary between Company Page records, member-account data and the content your archive can actually capture.

Practical guide for records, communications and IT teams

Which LinkedIn identity is in scope?

A Company Page and a member profile are different account contexts. Begin by naming the Page and the organizational activity you need to preserve. LinkedIn’s member data-download guidance should not be treated as proof that a Company Page workflow is covered. Ask the vendor to demonstrate the supported Page content and authorization process for your actual use case.

Work through a realistic example

A corporate Page posts a recruitment update, while an employee shares a related personal post. Decide which account and activity belong in the approved scope. Do not assume that connecting the Company Page also authorizes collection of employees’ personal profiles or private communications.

Run the workflow

  1. Record the Company Page identifier, business owner and authorized administrators. Confirm who can approve the connection and maintain it after a role change.
  2. Choose a Page post with supported media and a representative comment thread. List any other formats or message types as separate requirements to verify.
  3. Search and export the sample. Have a second reviewer distinguish Page-authored content from other participants and identify any externally referenced material.

Record the decision and its limits

Keep the verified Page scope and unsupported-content list with the account inventory. If the organization uses LinkedIn for a new business activity, review the records requirement before assuming the original setup covers it.

Keep in mind: A vendor’s platform logo is not a complete capability statement. Ask for current, specific answers about Page types, supported objects and historical access.

Common questions

Does a member data export cover the Company Page?

Do not assume so. Check the account context and inspect the actual package against the Page records you need.

Are private communications included?

Only treat a communication type as covered after its authorized collection path and product support are specifically confirmed.
