{"id":2654,"date":"2021-04-22T13:34:30","date_gmt":"2021-04-22T03:34:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brolly.io\/ca\/?p=2654"},"modified":"2021-10-05T10:51:50","modified_gmt":"2021-10-04T23:51:50","slug":"how-to-pause-archiving-on-selected-social-media-accounts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brolly.io\/ca\/blog\/2021\/04\/22\/how-to-pause-archiving-on-selected-social-media-accounts\/","title":{"rendered":"How to pause archiving on selected social media accounts"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>You can now pause a social media account in Brolly.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What does pausing mean?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Pausing means you are no longer capturing new records for the paused account, but the records you have already captured for that account remain in the archive.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In combination with the ability to set a start date for your archive, this feature now makes it easy to collect an archive for a specified period.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Archiving for a set period of time <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Use pause when you need to archive a social media account for specified period of time:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>When connecting the account of an elected official, set the archive to start on the date their term begins.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Pause the account when their term ends.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>Use pause to ensure your archive contains a complete set of the conversations the elected official had while they were in their role, but not before they started their role, or after they finished in their role.&nbsp; By using <strong>Pause<\/strong>, your organization remains compliant, and the elected official\u2019s privacy is protected.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Using the pause feature for councillors and ministers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Our pause function has been designed for organizations that archive social media conversations for public social media accounts being used by elected officials such as councillors or government ministers.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Using the pause feature for other accounts<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You may close an official business social media account down for a range of reasons, for example as a result of portfolio changes or organization restructures. Accounts that you stop using for any reason are perfect candidates for pausing. When you pause the account, the records you captured when the account was alive and public are securely retained in your archive, giving you access to the records in Brolly\u2019s interface, and ensuring you comply with recordkeeping and other legislation.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Steps to follow<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Log in to Brolly. You will need to have \u2018Owner\u2019 or \u2018Group owner\u2019 level access to Brolly.<\/li><li>Go to <strong>Settings<\/strong>, and view the <strong>Accounts<\/strong> tab<\/li><li>Choose the account you want to pause<\/li><li>Click on the three dots next in the right column for the account.<\/li><li>Choose <strong>Pause<\/strong><\/li><li>Pausing an account is a significant decision. You\u2019ll see a message that explains what happens when you pause an account and asks you to confirm your request. If you still want to pause the account, tick the checkbox and press <strong>Pause<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Whoops! Need to reconnect?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We understand that sometimes people make mistakes. If you pause an account and then realize you need to reconnect, we can help you with that. Click the three dots \u2026 on a paused account and choose <strong>Resume archiving<\/strong>.
